Danny Brown has reunited with brothers-in-arms, Run the Jewels for “3 Tearz,” a JPEGMAFIA – produced single from Danny’s forthcoming album, uknowhatimsayin¿. For a track produced by the usually eccentric and maverick like JPEGMAFIA, the production is more conventional. But, it’s clear that this track was produced for Danny Brown and Run The Jewels, with swinging beats, quirky samples and incredible feel. This allows both artists to shine, showing off their flow and lyrical prowess. I feel like Pitchfork put it best when they described why this coming together of artists works so well – ‘Their shared interest is not giving a fuck.’

As you would expect, this song is very much lead by Danny Brown. Throughout 3 Tearz,, he puts on a masterclass on how to lead a track. He doesn’t steal the show and gives enough space for Run The Jewels to show the world why they will go down as legends in music history.

The song is very clearly about the trio fed up of having to put up with bs, ‘Two tears in a bucket/Fuck it,’ Brown raps on the chorus. “I don’t care about nothing, nothing.” Killer Mike then comes in for his verse, ‘don’t give a fuck about Trump, who got dump?’

Executive produced by Q-Tip, Uknowhatimsayin¿ is the follow-up to Brown’s 2016 release, Atrocity Exhibition. ‘3 Tearz’ follows the album’s previously released singles, ‘Best Life’ and ‘Dirty Laundry.’ Obongjayar and Blood Orange also collaborate on the LP, with additional production from Flying Lotus, Paul White and Standing on the Corner.
