The queen is back. On August 23, 2019, Missy Elliott took to Instagram to announce a collection of new songs entitled Iconology, to “continue the celebration” of life and her music. The release comes at a good time for the singer-rapper-producer-songwriter, who was recently inducted into the Songwriter Hall of Fame, and took home the Michael Jackson Vanguard Award for a career of achievement in music and pop culture, after a baffling performance at the MTV Music Video Awards.

Missy Elliott has delivered, proving that despite her last album release being in 2005, she’s still got it. In response to the new generation of music streamers being taken by surprise, Missy tweeted “I think it’s cool new kids think I’m a new artist that goes to show u that I’m still on [fire] & will rip down stages 20 yrs later.”

This collection of new songs will make you bounce. However, don’t take it from us, but the Queen herself: “Let’s #ThrowItBack to a time when music just felt good and made us want to dance!”
