Scandinavian singer Mountain Bird’s begins a new century by looking back at a dark and difficult previous year on his newest EP ‘DearBrainLetMeSleep’.

Since his start in 2014, Mountain Bird, also known as Adam Öhman, has received strong radio airplay from BBC 6 Music’s Steve Lamacq, Radio X, and Absolute radio and looks to continue his success with his new single ‘5 Years’, a song that combines a swaying synth pulse with resilient and genuine lyrics about breaking up with someone you know you love.

Released via Nettwerk Records on January 3^rd, ‘DearBrainLetMeSleep’ documents a time when Adam was “transitioning into adulthood and developing new self-love.” That last point is made the forefront of the new single as the line “I will not change myself” echoes before the instrumentals clash together on the drop with a sonic boom.

‘5 Years’ is unapologetic in its lyrics, “no filters” as Adam says. With all the darker meanings and messages, it’s interesting to see it melt with the stellar rises and drops in the synth-poppy melodies that complete the songs shadowy aesthetic.
